God is building His Church with living stones; people. This message asks the question, are we fully surrendered in the hands of the master builder - are we in the place He wants and needs us to be in His Kingdom building programme?
In Haggai's day the people had neglected the building of God's house, the temple, in favour of their own homes; as a consequence, God withdrew His blessing from them. Haggai challenged the people to consider their ways and the word he brings from God sees work resume on the temple. In this message we look at four things that, whilst addressed to the people of Israel, can apply to us today as we seek to build God's house.
It's certainly not the case that all our troubles are of our own making. However, when difficulties arise, it’s a good thing to consider our ways. Like the people of Haggai’s day, we may find that our disobedience to God's call to prioritise His kingdom may be something we need to address. This sermon encourages us to get on with the work of building "God's house".
On the occasion of the second anniversary of One Church, this sermon goes back to the book of Acts and reminds us that God desires to do today all the things He did in the beginning! In fact as the Church of today we are called to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ in this world, expecting supernatural results as our norm! This message highlights the power and authority that God has invested in His Church and shows us that the hope for any community lies in the body of believers in that community.
Far from being vague and unfathomable, the will of God is something that you can grasp hold of and walk in; in fact, this is essential if you are to find true fulfilment in life. This sermon brings insight into the biblical teaching on the will of God and shares six significant scriptural keys that will not only help you discover the life you were made for but also live in God's will on a day-by-day basis.
On the occasion of our one year anniversary since replanting as One Church, this sermon shows the beauty and power of the local church when she is working right. Unpacking Jesus' prayer for oneness in John 17, you will discover afresh the tremendous capacity of the Church to utterly transform lives and culture. As you listen, you will be reminded of our calling as a church to be one in Christ, one in purpose and one in belonging.
At times we can’t see the new thing that God is doing because we have become blinded by the past. That’s why we need to change our perspective – for God is far more interested in our future than He is in our past. You may feel like your past has turned your life into a wasteland but in that very desert place we believe God wants to release new life.
This sermon was delivered on the occasion of One’s Church first Sunday in our new meeting venue, The Hewett Academy. This relocation marks a new era for One Church as God gives us a new wineskin to receive the new wine that He wants to pour out in these days.
The earliest Christians experienced explosive growth without owning church buildings, yet so often today we cling to church buildings as if they are the essence of church. This sermon, delivered on the occasion of One Church's last public meeting in Drayton Hall, puts to rest some of the false thinking surrounding what makes a church a church. You will discover church as a counter-cultural, transformational community of connected relationships with God and one another. And you will be inspired to embrace church as an identity and not an activity or place, thereby releasing limitless possibilities.
The book of Acts gives us a picture of church that meets together in both large groups and in small gatherings in homes. Inspired by the early church's example, this sermon - delivered at the launch of our Connect Groups - unpacks the exciting vision for small groups at One Church. You will see that church is so much more than meeting together for a few hours on a Sunday - it is about genuinely doing life together and being family.
Relationship is at the heart of what it means to be a Christian. Sometimes we can think that Christianity is only about a personal relationship with Jesus - but nowhere does the Bible describe this as exclusively private. In fact, God calls us to be in deep and meaningful relationship not just with Himself but also with one another. Our desire for fellowship with other Christians is even a barometer of our love for God. This message, which deals with some of the oft-cited criticisms of church, will inspire you towards a fresh, compelling and dynamic vision for local church.
Christians are better together: God has made us to be in relationship with Him and also with each other. In this first sermon in our series 'One Another' (all about unleashing the power of together), we explore what it means to live out the 'one another commands' of the Bible, focusing on why and how we're called to love one another, be one with one another, value one another and encourage one another.
This sermon reminds us that true spiritual authority is found more in a towel than a title. Pastor Dominic exhorts us from Scripture to be a church of contributors not consumers, participators not spectators – where 100% of the people do 100% of the work.
Church is not a building we go to, church is not a social club we opt in and out of, church is not a concert for us to be entertained. Church is the body of Christ, family who love each other, who are real with each other, who are united around Jesus, growing in our walk with God. Pastor Catherine reminds us that there is no such thing as solo Christianity – we need one another!
