Dave has been involved in church music pretty much all his life and has been writing songs since his teens. He started writing worship songs when invited to speak on how to write them. His songs have about them a depth of lyricism coupled with great musicality and married to really sing-able tunes.

In the late 1990s Dave was invited to join the team at Kensington Temple (KT), London, initially to set up a School of Worship within the already successful School of Creative Ministries. After a couple of years, he was asked to step up to the role of Music Pastor, providing pastoral care for the team of 80-100 singers and musicians. As such he was given the rare privilege of leading worship for KT and at KT events in some of London’s finest venues, often seen behind the keys or the strings of a guitar at the likes of Wembley Conference Centre and Arena, Hammersmith Apollo, Westminster Chapel, Westminster Central Hall and of course the Royal Albert Hall. From the very first Dave was keen to introduce the songs he had written to the people of KT. “I have been lifted up” was an early favourite, written in Plymouth but which translated very easily to the multicultural congregation of KT. Over the years of his ministry there his songwriting matured and developed, the initial starting point for so many of his songs coming from times of worship, often spontaneous outbursts of praise or worship.

Having left KT in 2014, Dave went on to teach theology at Regents Theological College and most recently become a part of the ministry team at Cheltenham Elim, responsible for Worship, Mission and Small Groups.
